SBHC Billing

We began billing insurances in the 2009-2010 school year.  Why?  The major reason is that our grant funding has dropped, while we have seen more and more students.

We have worked to keep these issues from costing families: for now, we are still able to use grant funds to cover co-pays so that the care does not cost you, but we need students' & parents' help to continue doing this.  If you have insurance, we need to collect your insurance information when you/your child is seen for care.  If your insurance does not pay, or only pays part, you will not receive a bill during the school year if we receive your insurance information.  However, we need to receive insurance reimbursement for our services to allow the SBHC to continue to use grant funds to cover copays, to stay open, and to continue to serve your students.

When might you receive a bill?

1) If your insurance company pays you directly for the visit, we require that the funds they send you be turned over to the clinic to pay for your student's care.
2) If your student has been seen more than once and you do not give us insurance information despite multiple requests, you may receive a bill for the amount that would have been billed to your insurance, had you given us the information.  You can avoid this by being sure we have your up to date insurance information.

3) If your student is seen during the summer and your insurance requires co-pays or you have no insurance, you would be billed: you can fill out income information to qualify for a reduction in fees.
