A School-Based Health Center (SBHC) is a health care clinic located at a school. For more information on SBHCs, see the Oregon State's SBHC 2009 status report at http://www.oregon.gov/DHS/ph/ah/sbhc/docs/2009rpt.pdf What's a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice nurse who provides high-quality healthcare services similar to those of a doctor. NPs diagnose and treat a wide range of health problems. They have a unique approach and stress both care and cure. Besides clinical care, NPs focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling. They help patients make wise health and lifestyle choices. They are truly your Partners in Health.

Do you bill for your services?
Yes, we bill insurance companies, BUT we use grant funds to cover co-pays and uncovered costs (with few exceptions, which we check with parents before doing) during the school year. Parents do not receive a bill from the SBHC is their student is seen during the school year*. Also see SBHC billing.
How is it funded?
Willamina SBHC is funded through a state grant and county funds. It exists as a joint effort between Yamhill County Public Health Department, the State of Oregon, and Willamina School District. * Two exceptions when we would bill: 1) If your insurance company pays you directly for the visit, we require that the funds they send you be turned over to the clinic to pay for your student's care. 2) If your student has been seen more than once and you have insurance but do not give us the insurance information despite multiple requests, you may receive a bill for the amount that would have been billed to your insurance, had you given us the information. You can avoid this by being sure we have your up to date insurance information . . |
